Meet the folks who will be organizing and facilitating our 2025 Jam Camps. Our facilitators, camp organizers/managers, and volunteers are passionate about music and excited to see you at Jam Camp this summer.
We’ve got more amazing facilitators & staff lined up for 2025, so stay tuned as we continue to add their bios to the site!
Anna Baignoche
Anna B. is a bit of a Jam Camp Legend. No one yet has been lucky enough to boast an entire Jam Camp Theme inspired by themselves, except for her. For years we wondered if anyone really even liked Jam Camp, or if they were just coming to see Anna? Known for her energetic song and dance, flamboyant musical theatre scripts, outrageous theme characters, and trusty megaphone, Anna is a Jam Camp Treasure who will be gracing us with her presence at Jam Camp on the Island this summer and leading the vocal section- whoop whoop!
Stefan Bienz
Stefan Bienz (aka JC Soulshine, aka SewageSmell Maybel, aka Ritzy Glitzy Spider) will be rocking the low end at Jam Camp on the River as a Facilitator this summer! Stefan is one of the most generous, humble, and happy go lucky superstars you will ever meet, and we can guarantee you- when Stefan and his bass are in the mix- the sound is going.to.be.FIRE!
Bobby Bovenzi
One, two, come back in!! Master Rhythm Circle Facilitator, Bobby Bovenzi, will be Facilitating at BOTH Jam Camps this summer, bringing his high energy and contagious joy of rhythm to all! In addition to leading drum circles, teaching West African rhythms, dance, and song; Bobby is one of the 6 original founders of Jam Camp, and we owe him much gratitude for being a key factor in establishing the Jam Camp Community vibe!
Darcie Johnson
Darcie Johnson will be Manager at Jam Camp on the River this summer, keeping things running smoothly with her energetic presence and contagious smile! There’s nothing this gal can’t do: join her for morning yoga, or catch her for a wee jam, singalong, or dance party. Let’s make sure she gets to do more than just admin work at Jam Camp this summer!!
Colin Hamilton
Colin is one of the Organizers and Managers at Jam Camp on the Island this summer! Along with his wife Wendi, Colin has been an instrumental(pun intended) figure in bringing Jam Camp back to BC’s Coast after the long absence of Jam Camp by the Sea for the past 6 years. We are stoked to have Colin & Wendi as part of our admin crew, and even more stoked to get a chance to spend a beautiful week in nature with them and their very musically talented family!
Kansas-lee Hatherly
Kansas-lee is well known in the Okanagan Valley for her beautiful voice and song writing skills. This summer will be her first time at Jam Camp, but as she has already camped and sang around the campfire with Jam Campers in the past- we know she is the perfect fit! Come and meet her in person at Jam Camp on the River this summer!
Leo D.E Johnson
Meet Leo D.E Johnson- gracing us for a second time with his sweet, sweet sounds, and rock n’ roll energy! Leo will be Facilitating at Jam Camp on the River this summer for the first time, and we are STOKED to share the week with him. Leo will be offering small group lessons on the electric guitar, facilitating a song writing musical project group, and most certainly adding to the overall awesomeness of Jam Camp this summer!
Robin Layne
Imagine unzipping your tent to the fresh morning dew, with the early morning sun’s warm rays shining through the trees into your campsite- beckoning you out into the grassy field where sleepy senior Jam Campers are doing their yoga and making their first cup of coffee, and lively earlybird Jam Campers are frolicking through the field with their friends, climbing trees, and excitedly waiting for the day to start. If Robin happens to be at this camp, you will undoubtedly hear the soft soundtrack of looping Marimba melodies serenading throughout the camp. Every morning, noon, and night. Robin and his Marimbas will be joining us at Jam Camp on the Island this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited!
Wendi Lopatecki
Having Wendi and her creative family at Jam Camp is always a treat. This summer, Wendi, alongside her husband Colin, is helping to organize Jam Camp on the Island, as well as will be one of the Camp Managers there! Wendi’s sunny disposition, beautiful voice and musicianship, and calming presence are such a blessed addition to the Jam Camp vibe. Thank you Wendi for helping to bring Jam Camp back to the Coast!
Anna Lumiere
Anna Lumiere is a ray of sunshine that warms Jam Campers on a cloudy day; bringing fun, creativity, and sweet improvisational jazz into the mix wherever she goes. Anna offers lessons on the keys- both accordion and piano- and every once in a while blesses us with teaching a gem of a song. Anna will be Facilitating at Jam Camp on the Island this summer!
J. Ben McGrath (he/him)
When Ben McGrath is playing around the campfire with you, you can depend on his subtle and smooth rhythms to carry the pulse of the jam! Along with giving lessons on the kit drum, snare, or buckets, Ben is an incredibly talented accompanist with a great ear for improvisation and jamming. He will be joining us at Jam Camp on the Island, and we couldn’t be more excited to spend the week with him!
Patrick Metzger
We are so excited to welcome Patrick Metzger to Jam Camp on the Island this summer! He and his family are Jam Camp newbies, so make sure to take some time to get to know them and welcome them into the Jam Camp Fam! Word on the street is that Patrick has many an instrument up his sleeves! We are looking forward to the magic that this new addition will bring…
Bela Ord
Bela Ord is a longtime Jam Camper turned Facilitator, whose smooth style jazz, enthusiasm to experiment and jam, and quirky humor (hello chickengiraffeunicorncow) brings joy to every Jam Camp he attends. This summer, we’ll have him joining us at BOTH Jam Camps- woohoo! Bela will be available for lessons on piano, melodica, and guitar!
Graham Ord
Graham Ord will be sharing his love and expertise of winds and brass instruments as a Facilitator at Jam Camp on the Island this summer! Graham brings his many years of musical experience and knowledge to the jam, and can often be found geeking out on a totally obscure musical instrument, or improvising and creating new instruments with found objects!
Noah Ord
Noah Ord has been part of the Jam Camp Family for over a decade- progressing from Participant to Facilitator in the last few years. Noah will be attending Jam Camp on the Island this summer, and we couldn’t feel more fortunate! His welcoming smile and gentle guidance helps the newest musicians at Jam Camp feel confident and included, while his expertise on the fiddle, ukulele, trumpet, spoons(!!) are the perfect match for long time musicians who want to collaborate, experiment, and jam in exponential ways!
Ricardo
Ricardo will be a new face at Jam Camp on the River this summer! We are thrilled to have him join us as our main vocal Facilitator! Rumors are swirling about the outstanding performances he gave at our local “Ignite the Arts Festival” this spring, and we can’t wait to welcome him into the Jam Camp family and get to know him better! Not only does Ricardo have solid experience in leading choir, he also has a plethora of instrument expertise in his back pocket. Check out his Bio to learn more!
Vittorio Salvatore
Vittorio Salvatore, aka Vito, is back at Jam Camp on the River this summer as a Facilitator! This is a man of many talents… from magic tricks up his sleeves, to riverside barber, to playing a plethora of instruments, and singing a cappella on the side! We are stoked to have him join the Jam Camp Facilitator Crew!
Mariela Shuley
Mariela Shuley first arrived at Jam Camp the summer of 2005 when she was just a wee lil songbird, and has been coming back to Jam Camp ever since! She has progressed from Participant, to Musical Volunteer, to Facilitator, to Admin Support, Social Media Guru, Volunteer Sound Technician, Grant Writer, etc etc etc!!! Mariela, aka “The Heart of Jam Camp” will be Facilitating at BOTH Jam Camps this summer, lucky us!
Andy Tabb
You can find Andy Tabb in the jam circles at Jam Camp on the Island this summer! His unassuming presence and hypnotising guitar melodies are Jam Camp Magic at its finest! Andy is a joy to jam with, an excellent collaborator, and has great tales to tell between songs. Settle around the campfire, and sit back and enjoy. Playing music with Andy is a soul filling experience.
Owen Thomas
Owen Thomas has been around since the Birth of Jam Camp. He is our most super star Musical Volunteer, a beautiful steady voice in the song circle, and a great addition to your next open mic number. You can always count on Owen to hold down a harmony part with you, or hook you up with the world's best hug to start out your Jam Camp morning. Owen will be joining us at Jam Camp on the Island this summer, make sure to hit him up for a music lesson or singing under the stars session.
Amelia Tumbach
(aka “MEMA”)
Amelia Tumbach’s claim to fame is that she attended the first ever Jam Camp in 2003 before she was 1 year old, and has continued to attend Jam Camp every year after that! She is the OG JC’er, has progressed to assisting admin in the organizing and running of Jam Camp, and is being groomed to one day take over the world!! (of Jam Camp, that is) Mema will be the Assistant Manager at Jam Camp on the River this summer!
Thomas Tumbach
Jam Camp is essentially the brainchild of Thomas Tumbach. Freshly reacquainted with his violin after a decade, combined with his new love for jamming with friends; when Thomas was asked to give violin lessons to a group of family friends over 20 years ago while they were camping, he said: “Yes, lets! And…. let's also invite a bunch of friends and camp together in a beautiful place and everyone can share all sorts of music together!!!” Thomas is one of the 6 original founders of Jamp, and will be a Musical Volunteer at Jam Camp on the River this summer!
