Facts and Questions
  • It says that there is "no level of musical aptitude required", but no one in my family plays an instrument! Is it really ok for us to come, are we going to be the only non-musicians?
    • Jam Camp is a wonderful opportunity for people who have not had many opportunities to be musical, and people who don't feel like they are very musical. Our camps are supportive, encouraging, and focused on having FUN! There are no competitions and all performances are optional. We do a lot of singing, dancing and hand drumming, which are great for people who do not have experience with instruments.
  • I am serious about playing my instrument, is this camp able to provide me with quality instruction time?
    • Many of our facilitators are full time professional musicians, with extensive musical training. Although instrument instruction is not the main focus of our camps, there are workshops for a few hours every day where participants have the opportunity to learn one on one or in a small group with our facilitators.
  • What should I bring to the family camps?
    • Food, camping gear, clothing for rain and sun! Beach and swimming supplies, sunscreen, mosquito repellent! Any instruments you might have kicking around your house! First Aid kit, sun hats, rain jackets! It is very helpful if you are attending the Shuswap River or Mabel Lake camp to bring your own camping table, as picnic tables are limited.
  • At the family camps, is there power I can hook up to? What about showers and flush toilets?
    • There are flush toilets at the River camp, no power or showers. There are pit toilets at the Mabel Lake and Kokanee Creek camp, no power at either. There are showers at the Kokanee Creek camp, not at Mabel. The lake and river are lovely for swimming though! There is a variety of accommodation options at the Christina Lake camp, see their site for details.
